Happy Tuesday!

The College of Piping Pipe Bands are in the final few weeks of their "Trip to Scotland" raffle.  It's not too late to purchase a ticket or six!  Please contact The College for your chance to win a trip of a lifetime. The draw takes place Saturday, March 15th at The Silver Fox Curling and Yacht Club in Summerside. If you have purchased a ticket your entry is free but if you haven't bought one, the entry is twenty dollars or ten dollars once the draw is completed. The evening's entertainment will be provided by Ten Strings and a Goat Skin and members of the College of Piping pipe bands. Besides the grand prize there are twenty five additional prizes to be won. The fun starts at 7pm. Don't miss out on a great evening while supporting Summerside's pipe bands!

For the next two weeks our piping instructors, Kylie and James MacHattie, will be away in New Zealand. They will be in Invercargill advising their instructors on the ins and outs of keeping a College of Performing Arts going and will do some teaching. They will then travel to the North island for to compete with the Invercargill Pipe Band at the New Zealand Championships. Check back often to the blog for all of their updates about their adventures. Their classes will resume as normal on Tuesday, March 11th but band practices will continue as normal in their absence. Happy practicing!

The bands will be piping (and drumming) in Heather Moyse on Friday shortly before 6:00 pm for her triumphant return home after her amazing repeat gold medal! The festivities take place at Credit Union Place in Summerside, so go out and show your Island pride!

Calling all performers!  Spotlight Theatre will be hosting a series of coffee houses at Samuel’s beginning in February, and they have extended an invitation to some of our students to perform.  The space is limited, so larger dance groups (for example) will not fit, but solo dance would be fine.  These will be held on Friday evenings, and if anyone plans to participate please contact Reasha Walsh at spotlighttheatre.reasha@gmail.com to discuss.  If you are unsure whether you are ready to participate or not, your instructor would be happy to talk it through with you!
