Happy Holidays!

2014...what a year!  It was a busy one with two pipe bands representing the island at the World Pipe Band Championships and the College's 25th anniversary.  Where is time going?  It's hard to believe that it's less than a week until Christmas Day and in just two weeks, the year will be over.  If you are travelling this Christmas or staying put, please have a safe and happy holiday season.  From all of us at The College (staff, volunteers, students and supporters), have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!  Here's to 2015!

Please note the following changes to two of the College of Piping Pipe Band 50/50 Gold Rush draws over the Christmas holidays.  The Thursday, December 25th draw will take place on the morning of Wednesday, December 24th and the Thursday, January 1st draw will take place on Friday, January 2nd.  All other draws will take place on their scheduled Thursdays.  Thank you very much in advance for your co-operation and support!

That's A Wrap!

What a show!  Thank you to all of the performers, parents, family members, friends, etc. that came to the Christmas Recital yesterday. It was fantastic to see our students perform what they have been practicing so diligently this fall.  It was great to see those who have never performed before getting up in front of a crowd and putting on quite the show! Well done to everyone!

The College is open this week for regular business hours.  The College will be closed for the holidays at 5pm on December 19th and will re-open in the New Year on January 5th at 9am.  For all of those last minute shoppers, it's not too late to purchase something from the gift shop!  We have hoodies in child and adult sizes, plaid dorm pants (that are VERY popular), t-shirts and Wellies that look like dancer or piper ghillies!  We have great stocking stuffers as well – drumsticks, piping supplies, COP umbrellas, COP water bottles, COP mugs and COP lanyards.  Come on in and check out everything we have!  New items include tartan Christmas ornaments made by Anna MacDonald and Chanter lamps, made by Mike Dupuis.  We also have beautiful Christmas ornaments made by dedicated highland dance mom, Shelley Rogers.  All proceeds from the sale of these specific ornaments will help our highland dancers in their fundraising efforts to get to London, Ontario for the ScotDance Canada Championship Series.  Do you need an idea for the person who has everything?  Gift Certificates are available in any denomination and can be used to purchase merchandise or Highland Storm tickets!

Thank you to everyone who purchased a Christmas Getaway ticket.  All tickets purchased were in support of The College of Piping Highland Dancers Trip to the 2015 ScotDance Canada Championship Series in London, Ontario. Congratulations to Tammy Gallant who was the lucky winner!

You can even order them in your pajamas!  Please do not hesitate to contact Sue McGiveron at The College if you have any questions.  Sue can be reached by either email, sue.mcgiveron@collegeofpiping.com, or by phone, 436-5377.

The College of Piping and Celtic Performing Arts of Canada's 2014 Christmas Recital is less than a month away!  It's on December 14th at 2pm at the Summerside Intermediate School.  Students who will be performing are asked to arrive for 1:30pm.  Admission is free but The College is asking for your assistance in supporting the Salvation Army Food Bank. We would be extremely grateful if an item of food was brought along as the price of admission. It is the season of giving!

Don't Forget!

It's the last week of voting for round three of the Aviva Community Fund.  Have you voted yet today?  It only takes a minute and your vote will go a long way in helping us reach the semi-finals. Every vote counts!  If we successfully increase our votes through Round 3 – which runs now through to November 24, we could advance to the semi-finals but we can only do it with your help!   THIS IS OUR LAST CHANCE!!!  If you are already registered, here is the link to vote: https://www.avivacommunityfund.org/ideas/acf19453.  If you need to register, here is the link: https://www.avivacommunityfund.org/users/registration/login.  You can vote once or day or even more if you have multiple (or triple!) email addresses!  PLEASE HELP!! Thank you for your time and continued support!!!

The next deadline for ordering FundScrip is this Friday (November 21st).  Please have orders in before 10am. There won't be a December order so now is the time to purchase your gift cards for Christmas!  Who doesn't love getting a gift card as a gift?!  The next FundScrip order will go in on January 16th, 2015. You can set up your own account and order online and have them shipped directly to you. You can even order them in your pajamas!  Please do not hesitate to contact Sue McGiveron at The College if you have any questions.  Sue can be reached by either email, sue.mcgiveron@collegeofpiping.com, or by phone, 436-5377.

Not sure what FundScrip is? It's an easy and unique way to support The College.  All you have to do is purchase gift cards (for example:  Sobeys, Superstore, Esso, M&M Meats, Canadian Tire, Indigo, Marks Work Wearhouse, Payless Shoes, the Running Room, Staples, Winners, Shoppers Drug Mart and many more!) and then use those gift cards to purchase the items you would normally buy. We aren’t asking you for a donation, all we are asking you to do is use a different form of payment to make your usual purchases, which then benefits us!  It is really that simple!  Drop by the College to pick up an order form to order any of these gift cards through us!

Tickets are now on sale for our 2015 Robbie Burns Fundraising Gala!  It is being planned for Saturday, January 24, 2015.  The reception will begin at 6:30 pm with a traditional Robbie Burns Roast Beef Dinner at 7:00 pm.  Entertainment will be provided by the faculty and students of The College of Piping. Tickets are $100.00 per person with a $75.00 tax receipt.  A table of 8 will be $800.00.  There is limited seating available so get your tickets early. Last year, the event sold out.  Do not be disappointed!!!  A complimentary shuttle service from Charlottetown to Summerside and return is available.  This is the main fundraiser for The College of Piping so your support is appreciated to help us get through the year.  As a non-profit organization, we are always looking for new and creative ways to raise the funds that will enable us to continue to provide educational programs, encourage students to learn and grow in their disciplines, and offer continued growth in the Celtic Performing Arts.
