Happy October!

It is decidedly fall out there today!  The leaves are changing rapidly which means it's almost time for some leaf peeping!  Autumn on the island is gorgeous with the varying colours between the land and sea.  At The College, we haven't stopped since the summer!  We have finished the first three weeks of classes and we're full steam ahead.  A reminder that there are no classes on October 10th as it is Thanksgiving Day.  A great way to burn off turkey and pumpkin pie is by practicing on that holiday Monday!

The College’s highland and step dancers will be getting a very unique opportunity to learn from an award winning sean nós (“old style”) step dancer from Ireland, Liam Scanlon. We will be hosting a fun-filled workshop with Liam on October 12th, open to all dancers from the College to broaden their dance horizons and get a taste for a different style of Celtic dancing. The following night, on October 13th we will be making a group outing to the Harbourfront Theatre to watch Liam perform with the percussive dance group “Zogma”. It is sure to lots of fun for everyone, and will hopefully inspire our dancers and fuel their passion for the Celtic arts!

Congratulations to our champion supreme winners from the Atlantic Canada Pipe Band Association!  Each of our competing pipers, drummers and pipe bands accumulate points (if they are lucky enough to place!) as they compete at the various Atlantic Canada games throughout the year. Well done to our students and bands!  Your hard work has paid off!
