Finally, it's Friday!

Don't forget that Chase the Ace is at The College tonight instead of at The Oval.  This is a weekly event with the goal of raising funds for the primary purpose of operating The College of Piping with a percentage allocated to specific band and dance programming.  Did you know that you can now pre-purchase your tickets through the gift shop? Ticket selling starts at 5pm in the main hall at The College and will be sold until 6:45pm on the day of the draw.  The draw will take place at 7pm.  If a draw falls on a holiday, the draw may be cancelled for that week and resume the following Friday.  Thank you for your support!

If the thought of another snowstorm has you longing for warmer weather, why not sign up for one of our summer schools? The College has an exciting announcement that we will be partnering with the National Piping Centre (Glasgow, Scotland) in July!  We will be running a piping and drumming school here at The College for a week in July, starting the afternoon of Sunday the 5th and finishing on Friday the 10th.  Instructors from Scotland, including the one and only Roddy MacLeod, Principal of the Piping Centre, will come to Summerside to join Chris, Kylie and James to create the teaching faculty.  There will be three classes per day, workshops and evening events.  Keep an eye on our website for registration details.  Registration will go through http://www.thepipingcentre.co.uk/bagpipe-drumming-schools/p-e-i-summerside-2015/ and should open very soon.  Pipers and drummers should not miss this privileged opportunity!

And finally, it's Friday:  http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p02h2cc2.

Throwback Thursday!

The first full week of the New Year is almost complete!  It has been awesome to get back to the routine of lessons, practices and rehearsals.  Everyone at The College is looking forward to what the year will bring. It will be a busy one! With the New year, there comes some reflection on years past. In a throwback Thursday, I am posting this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=amNF_F6oeRU.  It has three and a half million views (yes, you read that number correctly)!  It was posted in 2009 and now almost six years later, it's still going strong.  In those six years Highland Storm has grown into the slick production that it is today.  I hope you enjoy this trip down memory lane!

Now that Christmas is over, you must have either used your gift cards, given them away as gifts or used the gas cards to visit family and friends!  We are thrilled with the response and just remember, although the percentages may not seem to add up to much individually, they add up over all of the purchases made by the group.  If everyone bought a $100 grocery gift card and a $50 gas card every month, we could raise a lot of money to support the College in a short period of time. The nice thing is, you are not purchasing anything you don’t need, you are purchasing something you can use and have helped the College without making a donation yourself!  If you don’t live near the College of Piping, but live in Canada, you can still help us out by becoming a supporter online and having your gift cards shipped directly to your home!  It is very simple and convenient!  Simply log on to www.fundscrip.com and click on Support Your Group.  Complete the information in this section and then type EXBKJ2 in the invitation code box.  You will be sent a confirmation email, click on the link in that email to complete your registration.  Now, login and purchase some gift cards!  Super simple and you have supported the College of Piping!  We just ask that you don’t use credit cards to pay for your order, we lose 2% of the earnings, but you can use debit online (with most major banks – 85 cent charge to us) or online bill payment or set up Electronic Funds Transfer!  So quick and simple…and your gift cards arrive in your mailbox in approximately 7 days!  The next group order will go in Friday, January 16th, so please have your orders in by 10am.  The gift cards take a week to arrive (barring any delays due to weather), so the turnaround time is very quick.

Don't forget the tomorrow night is the first night of Chase the Ace!  What is Chase the Ace?!  This is a weekly event with the goal of raising funds for the primary purpose of operating The College of Piping with a percentage allocated to specific band and dance programming.  Ticket sale and draw location will take place at:  The Oval at Red Shores (55 Greenwood Drive,Summerside).  Ticket sales and draws will be held each Friday evening beginning on Friday, January 9, 2015.  Tickets will go on sale at 5:00 pm and will be sold until 6:45 pm.  Draws will take place at 7:00 pm.  If a draw falls on a holiday, the draw may be cancelled for that week and resume the following Friday. Don't miss out on a great event! We'll see you this Friday!

Tickets are on sale now for this year’s all new production of Highland Storm!  New songs, new choreography will be a part of this high energy production.  To book your tickets, drop by the office or call 1-902-436-5377.  For further information on show dates and prices, visit our website at www.collegeofpiping.com.  If you have questions, feel free to contact Sue McGiveron at sue.mcgiveron@collegeofpiping.com.

The winner of the super grand prize must provide their own travel insurance.  All proceeds are in support of The College of Piping Pipe Bands and their trip to the North American Championships to be held in Maxville, Ontario on August 1, 2015. Tickets are 1 for $20.00, 3 for $50.00 or 6 for $100.00.  Besides the grand prize there are other prizes to be won!  Mini vacations, dinners and Highland Storm tickets!  Don't miss out!  Please see any College of Piping pipe band member to purchase a ticket (or tickets!) or you can call or email The College to get yours now!
