Happy Last Day of July!

There are only four Highland Storm shows left!  Have you seen one of the island's most talked about shows yet?  Not that you need an excuse to come and see it but the rumours are true.  There is a Celtic twist to the Michael Jackson hit Black and White and a Joni Mitchell favourite as well.  It's a show not to be missed! Here's a sneak peak of: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ciIAliUVLDk.  Get your tickets now: https://boxofficepei.com/venue/college-piping. We'll see you there!

Don't forget that this Friday (August 1st) there is a FREE pipe band concert!  It is being held at the College of Piping and Celtic Performing Arts of Canada in Summerside as a thank you for the support they have received from the city of Summerside and the province of Prince Edward Island.  It will start at 7:00pm and will take place in the amphitheatre.  They are incredibly grateful to family members, friends and supporters from all over who have helped them reach their fundraising goals so that they can compete at the World Pipe Band Championships in Scotland on August 16th.  The bands greatly appreciate the support they have received.  Thank you!!!

The Atlantic Canada Pipe Band Association competition season has wrapped up for another year and what a year it was! The last games of the year was held in Fredericton this past weekend with the New Brunswick Highland Games acting as a grande finale on a great season. There was lots of buzz after the games and you can spot some familiar faces in this video posted about the games: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qxYxy0_N2C0. You can also spot some  College kilts in this article on the games:  http://themaritimer.ca/2014/new-brunswick-highland-games-festival/.

Thank You!

A huge thank you to everyone who attended our 2014 Homecoming Highland Gathering!  It was fantastic to see so many familiar returning alumni to The College.  We were even lucky enough that two past instructors return to judge our piping and highland dancing competitions.  Highland Storm was sold out for its preview performance on the Friday night and the cast had an awesome time performing for a packed house. Saturday was busy with competitions and then Celtic Idol took to the stage in the beer tent.  The winners of that were Shelby and Allanna Dalziel and the group, Squid, took the most creative prize.  Rawlins Cross played to an enthusiastic crowd and had the tent rocking!  Sunday saw more competitions and then it was a wrap on the 2014 Gathering.   The festivities were even written about in the Journal Pioneer.  To read about our Homecoming weekend, please follow this link:  http://www.journalpioneer.com/News/Local/2014-06-29/article-3781166/College-of-Piping%26rsquo%3Bs-25th-anniversary-weekend-a-success/1.  Thank you to everyone for making our Homecoming the success that it was!

In the excitement of our Gathering, we released our newest CD!  What better place to release our recording than at our 25th anniversary celebrations!  It's a unique project in that every performer on this album is either an instructor or student, or a cast member in The College's summer production Highland Storm.  The album also has original tracks that you won't find anywhere else and are performed by their composers.  How cool is that?!  This recording truly reflects our mandate which is "Inspiring excellence in Celtic performing arts through quality educational programming."  It is available in our gift shop, iTunes and CD Baby.  To read more about this exciting project, please follow this link: http://www.journalpioneer.com/News/Local/2014-06-25/article-3776899/College-of-Piping-to-launch-CD-on-Saturday/1.  Get your copy NOW!!!
